RANGATAHI TALK

Hear from one of our rangatahi & the role Te Rongo Mauri Ki Tawhiti has played in his journey of cultural connection through sport.

Jayden Hape, 15 Years Old

“Being part of Te Rongo Mauri Ki Tawhiti has really helped my son find his Mana and pride in who he is. A young Māori boy, Australian born, It’s given him a stronger connection to his culture his heritage his people & his purpose. Our whānau has also felt more connected and grounded through this journey with the most amazing people - it’s been such a positive experience for all of us.

Te Rongo Mauri Ki Tawhiti, has been a pillar for our Tamariki born away from Aotearoa, With the values of Tikanga Māori that our Roopu holds strong has opened up many doors for our Tama to discover and learn more about their Maori - Heritage. Thus encouraging our Tama to enjoy learning about Maori and also proudly standing in their Maori Tanga wherever they go. It’s not just about RL it’s more so about connection and roots to Te Ao Māori!

Te Rongo Mauri ki Tawhiti, where everything somehow makes sense, even when it doesn’t!
TRMKT wrapped our boys in culture, connection and aroha, and gave them a place to stand proud. Te Rongo Mauri is more than a team, it’s a whānau. It’s where my son found his feet, his voice, his peace, and his confidence. We left Aotearoa with a sense of belonging, purpose, and a longing to continue being part of this kaupapa. Now, Te Rongo Mauri isn’t just his whānau, it’s our whānau. He honore, he kororia, he mihi aroha ki a koutou katoa. We are forever grateful for the lessons, the laughter, and the lifelong connections.
